Annoymous Questions

Thank you guys for asking some great and difficult questions.

Here is the first question we will be tackeling next Wednesday in the High School class:

How do you deal with people who abuse their power? How do you respect people in leadership positions even when they don’t respect you?

I've got some surprising and helpful information on how we can all deal with this issue in our lives.

Plan on joining us next Wednesday for the class.

Please, please, please, REMEMBER to Bring Your Bible!!!!!

The Revolve Tour is coming to Dallas on October 20-21!

What's the Revolve Tour?
It’s an event designed specifically for teen girls (6th – 12th grades) with stuff they need (and want) to know. And according to the girls who’ve been there . . . it’s a life-changing faith building totally sweet beautiful real honest intense experience!

  • Real Faith Meets Real Life
Our speakers are real - and they've got real-life experience to share with you. Stuff you can pack in your spiritual survival kit to successfully navigate your own life journey.

  • What I Think About Me
We've all got it in us to be confident, act confident. But where does self-esteem come from? From 'how to think' to 'who to believe', we'll help you find and appreciate the real, wonderful you.

One Month Left to Prepare...

That's right. This year's See You at the Pole is sceduled for September 27, 2006. That means you only have a few weeks to prepare. I am willing to help you with anything that you need. Just let me know. Below I've posted a few helpful hints from the official SYATP website that can help you get the ball rolling.

Pray
Before See You at the Pole™, pray for students who want to participate but are afraid to take a stand on their campus and for God to be glorified through SYATP on your campus.

Contact local youth ministries, inviting them to be involved. Encourage them to begin praying regularly that God would direct the prayer movement in their area and raise up obedient student leaders.

Prepare
Although students can freely gather for prayer before school, it's best to let your school administration know about See You at the Pole™.

Student leadership teams should: promote the event, contact school administration, and lead the actual prayer time at the pole. Specific helps for these tasks are included in other sections of this site.

While See You at the Pole™ needs the support of youth ministers, it is a student-led event. Strong student leadership is crucial. Youth ministers can help student leaders by offering guidance and support as the students prepare for SYATP.

It is important for student leaders to know that they are supported by adults from their churches, communities, and schools. Contact adults who will serve at local campuses by praying, recording video, taking pictures, etc. Adult volunteers should not lead the SYATP event. They should only be present to offer their support to the students. Adults in the community should also be encouraged to pray at locations other than the school campuses (i.e., courthouse flagpole, office building flagpole, military base flagpole).

Publicize
Promote SYATP primarily by word of mouth. The strongest form of promotion is a personal invitation. Encourage students to make a list of friends that they will personally invite to participate. Organize phone committees to invite Christian youth to pre-pole and post-pole events, as well as to remind them to be there the morning of SYATP.

Check out the See You at the Pole website for more info and more ideas.

Juniors and Seniors

I plan on taking those of you who might be interested in attending ACU, Harding, OCU, etc. on Christian College Weekends. This fall I want to plan a campus visit to Abeline Christian University.

During a Purple Friday you will have a chance to:

Sit in on a real college class
Have more time to interact with your admissions counselor
Have the opportunity for parent tours and parent financial aid sessions
Enjoy the excitement and community of ACU

I am currently looking at the following dates:
Oct. 27
Nov. 17
Dec. 1

Which of the dates look like they will work you? Please let me know ASAP!!!

BTW, I know that some of your are not planning on attending a Christian college. Please let me know where you are planning to attend and I will get you in contact with a local campus ministry.

There are a whole host of things that you guys need to sign up for:

1) Lock-In
The lock-in begins here at the building at 10:30pm on Friday, September 1. We will then head over to New York Ave. Church of Christ for an evening of fun, games, and fellowship. We will return to Lakeside at 6am Saturday morning. Sign-Up!!!

2) Wrap Up to the Grilling Season/Fireworks
Sign up for WUGS so we can know how much food to buy. We will leave Lakeside at 4:00pm and head to Mesquite, TX for the cookout and fireworks display. Great food and expolsions: You Can't Beat That! Sign Up!!!!

3) One Minute Bible for Students
Sunday is the last day for you to order one of these Bibles for $10.00.

Each one-minute reading includes an application of the Scripture through a devotional, a commentary, a theological word defined in simple terms, a personality profile, or a unique, weird, or humorous fact. All of which will help your students discover and fall in love with God's love letter.

The One-Minute Bible 4 Students moves you through the entire Bible – from Creation to Revelation – in just one year. However, make sure your students understand it is not intended to take the place of the Bible. But it may not be long before your students begin making side trips into the Bible itself to see what came before and what comes after the passage they read on a particular day. You’ll soon find that these quick sips of Scriptural milk will increase your students' appetite for God's meaty Word.
