Attention High Schoolers

For those of you who attended the retreat you might find this book interesting in light of the film we watched, Invisible Children. The book is exclusive to Starbucks begining in February. It tells the story of Ismael Beah, a young boy from Sierra Leone, who was kidnapped and forced to become a soldier and hiw incredible story of redemption.

If you were touched by Invisible Children, A Long Way Gone might be something that you will want to check out.

Parent Meeting Reduex

If you missed the parent's meeting this morning here is what you missed. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Thanks for letting me serve your kids.

January 27- Service Project
Jesus reminded us how important serving others is when he said that even he came to the earth not to be served but in order to serve others. Let’s not forget this. Join us from 9am-1pm in order to serve our community. Bring some money for fast food afterward.

February 8-11- Harding Bison Days (Juniors & Seniors)
Even if you think you know where you are going to college, join us for a weekend of experiencing what life at college is really like. We will leave Dallas on Thursday after school. You will stay in the dorms, eat in the cafeteria, attend chapel and classes, and get a chance to talk with professors about choosing the major that’s right for you. We will also attend a concert and a NCAA Div II Basketball game. We will end the weekend attending a local church for Sunday worship before returning home. The cost of the trip is $45 which includes room, meals on campus, the basketball game, and concert. Register by January 21. (This will count as a college day for school)

March 2-3- PlanetWisdom Discipleship Conference
Note: We have moved this event from February to March. PlanetWisdom is about discipleship. Their goal is to help students move from their spiritual adolescence into a more mature faith. They are passionate about empowering students to become thinking, growing, authentic followers of Jesus Christ. We are also passionate about teens growing in their faith. That is why we are attending. The conference will be held at Irving Bible Church and costs $47. Sign-up and pay before February 11, 2007.

March 10-14- Ski Trip
Where are we going?
Monarch Mountain Ski Resort in Monarch, CO. Check out the website at www.skimonarch.com.

How many can go?
We have been invited on this trip by the New York Ave. Youth group. Right now, we have 10 spaces available. We can get more depending on your level of interest.

How will we get there?
